SAP Assessments and U Value Calculations
SAP stands for standard assessment procedure. This is the methodology implemented by the UK government to estimate the energy performance and efficiency of homes.
This is both essential to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations, when building new homes. However, SAP is also used to generate an EPC. This will inform occupants, prosepctive buyers, landlords and those renting, of the energy performance of a property. This considers various elements, such as performance against target emissions and target fabric emissions.
SAP methodology is based upon (the typical) use of space, heating, hot water, ventilation and lighting within the home. It also considers things, such as glazing and solar gains.
Using a variety of information and architectural drawings, we, at Steven Daniels, are able to:
- Calculate U-values to demonstrate the energy efficiency of the fabric being used to create your walls, floors and roofs
- Calculate the efficiency of all other elements of the dwelling
- Generate a “design-stage” predicted energy performance certificate
- Report on Part L (Building Regulations) compliance. This includes BREL/BRWL & SAP worksheets)
- Make recommendations for improvements
- Re-calculate and re-visit once works have been updated
